This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use the Service and explains your privacy rights.
We use limited data to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Your privacy is critically important to us. At Grayd, we have a few fundamental principles:
This Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Application.
The definitions and terms should be interpreted as per the beginning section of this document.
We may collect standard diagnostic information such as device type, OS/app version, general region (derived from IP), timestamps, and performance metrics to maintain and improve the app.
We use an error-monitoring service to collect crash logs and reliability events. These reports may include device/OS/app version, event timestamps, and limited, sanitized snippets of returned content (for example, short fragments of HAC HTML when a request fails) strictly to reproduce and fix issues. We implement automated redaction and retain these reports only for a limited period necessary to diagnose problems.
Grayd does not maintain server-side sessions for HAC access. Requests are sent directly from your device to HAC over encrypted connections. HAC may set its own cookies/session data within the webview or API response it controls; these are managed by HAC, not by Grayd. To support offline viewing, select HAC data you have already retrieved may be stored locally on your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the app.
We use the data solely to:
We do not collect or store student grades or HAC credentials on Grayd servers. Your HAC username/password are sent from your device directly to HAC and are stored and encrypted only on your device.
We prioritize security. While no method of transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, Grayd uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for network requests and stores any local app data on the device. We recommend enabling device-level protections (e.g., passcode/biometrics).
We don't retain student grade data or HAC credentials on Grayd servers. Diagnostic/error data is kept only as long as necessary to troubleshoot issues and is then deleted.
Because Grayd does not store student grades or HAC credentials on Grayd servers, there is no routine transfer of such data to Grayd. Diagnostic data may be processed by our service providers subject to appropriate safeguards.
If you are a student or parent in California, please note that Grayd complies with the Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (SOPIPA). We do not:
We use student information solely to provide the educational service requested, and all HAC data remains on-device.
Grayd is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a district authorizes use by students under 13, it is responsible for obtaining any required parental consent under COPPA. If you believe we have inadvertently received information from a child under 13, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Grayd might have links to other sites. Navigating to these sites will make you leave our service environment. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of such third-party sites. We don't control, and aren't responsible for, third-party content or their privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. Where appropriate, we may provide additional notice.
